Police ID Indiana Man Killed in Southern North Dakota Crash

STRASBURG, N.D. — A man who had just moved to Indiana was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday, July 5, about one mile south of Strasburg.

Kevin Hancock, the only occupant in the vehicle, had recently moved from Pollock, South Dakota to Lafayette, Indiana, and was presumably heading back to Pollock on a gravel road when his vehicle crested a hill at a high rate of speed, according to a press release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Hancock lost control of his vehicle, a 2001 Ford Explorer, on the down slope of the hill, and careened into a ditch, overturning the vehicle, according to the press release.

He was wearing a seat belt and was not ejected from the vehicle, but he succumbed to his injuries from the crash, according to the press release.

Along with the Highway Patrol, the Emmons County Sheriff’s Office and the Strasburg Rural Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash.
