Men’s Basketball Back Home to Host South Dakota



The Coastal Carolina University men’s basketball team will be back home to host the University of South Dakota, Saturday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. ET at the HTC Center in the first meeting between the two programs.
 
After consecutive road contests, the Chants (2-2) will look to remain undefeated on their home court, while the Coyotes (3-3) will look for their first road victory of the season.
 
The Chanticleers are averaging 84.0 points per game and have four players averaging double digits led by Jomaru Brown‘s 19.3 points per game. The senior is shooting over 54 percent from the field, including knocking down 59 percent of his three-point field goals. For good measure, he has hit 17 of his 18 free throw attempts for 94.4 percent.
 
Linton Brown has been coming off the bench for CCU and has provided consistent bench scoring by averaging 15.0 points per game. He has a team-best 11 made three-point field goals and is knocking down over 42 percent of his three-point attempts on the season.
 
Essam Mostafa and Josh Uduje are also averaging double-digit points. Mostafa is shooting over 67 percent from the field while averaging 12.8 points per game. The redshirt junior has moved into the CCU career top-10 rebounding list with 592 career rebounds and not only leads the Sun Belt Conference but is second nationally with an average of 12.5 rebounds per game.
 
The Coyotes are led in scoring by AJ Plitzueit who is averaging 12.7 points per game. Paul Bruns joins Plitzueit in double-digit scoring averaging 10.5 points per game.
 
USD comes to Conway after playing in the Fort Meyers Tip-Off where the Coyotes fell to Sam Houston 80-49 in the championship game.
 
Saturday’s game will not be the first time the two teams will face each other this season. CCU will travel to Vermillion, S.D., Saturday, Dec. 14, to return the home-and-away same-season series.
