JetBlue to become Air Serbia’s US partner

Air Serbia and jetBlue have reached a codeshare agreement pending government approval. The two carriers have submitted an application with the United States Department of Transportation to be issued a permit for reciprocal codeshare flights. Under the deal, jetBlue will place its “B6” designator code and flight numbers onto Air Serbia’s services between Belgrade and New York, as well as between Belgrade and Chicago. On the other hand, Air Serbia will place its “JU” designator code and flight numbers onto 26 jetBlue destinations from New York to other points in the United States and the Dominican Republic. They include: Atlanta, Boston, Buffalo, Charleston, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Ontario (California), Orlando, Phoenix, Portland (PDX), Portland (PWM), Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Raleigh-Durham, San Diego, San Francisco, Santiago (Dominican Republic), Santo Domingo, Tampa and West Palm Beach.

The two carriers will enable the sale of tickets on each other’s flights for the abovementioned routes. In their filing to the Department, the two airlines said, “Air Serbia and jetBlue are parties to a new codeshare agreement pursuant to which (i) Air Serbia will display jetBlue’s B6 designator code on flights operated by Air Serbia between any point or points in the United States and any point or points in the Republic of Serbia (either nonstop or via intermediate points) and beyond to any point or points in any third country and (ii) jetBlue will display Air Serbia’s JU designator code on flights operated by jetBlue between Air Serbia’s US gateways and any point or points in the United States and beyond to any point or points in any third country in conjunction with foreign air transportation of passengers held out by Air Serbia”.

jetBlue operates both domestic and international flights. Founded in 1998, it has grown to become the sixth-largest airline in the United States by passengers carried. It is known for its affordable fares, customer-friendly policies, and distinctive branding. It operates flights to over 100 destinations in the United States, the Caribbean, Central and South America and most recently to the United Kingdom and France. It is set to commence operations to Amsterdam next month. Its primary hubs are located at New York JFK, Boston, and Fort Lauderdale.
